UNDERSTANDING
GeoVastu
GeoVastu is a scientific discipline that integrates ancient Indian knowledge of architecture and design with modern scientific advances in order to promote optimal balance and coherence between man-made structures and the natural elements and energies of the Earth.
By applying principles based on an in-depth understanding of the laws of physics and the delicate balance of energy flows, GeoVastu aims to create a framework for the creation of structures that are in tune with the environment and promote human well-being.
Through the exploration and study of the complex processes that underlie the formation of the Earth and its various ecosystems, GeoVastu provides a rigorous and evidence-based approach to the design and construction of buildings and public spaces that is rooted in the principles of sustainability and respect for the natural world.
The basic tenet of GeoVastu is grounded on the theory that the planet Earth is a complex system of different types of energies and forces, whose alignment has a tremendous impact on quality of life. A person can enjoy optimal health, prosperity, and inner peace by aligning their buildings and structures with these natural energies.
The science of GeoVastu leverages a deep understanding of the interactions between the environment, geology, and human beings to facilitate accurate land selection, building layout, and orientation. By incorporating various elements such as colors, shapes, patterns, and materials, GeoVastu aims to harness the positive flows of natural energy and eliminate/rectify the negative ones, thus enabling individuals to live in a balanced, blissful, and productive environment.
The systematic implementation of GeoVastu can assist in improving mental and physical health, enhancing overall happiness and prosperity, and boosting the inhabitants’ spiritual growth.
Key Principles Of GeoVastu
-
Directions
Geo Vastu assigns significance to various cardinal directions, such as North, South, East, and West, along with the sub-directions. Different directions are associated with specific elements and energies, and the positioning of rooms, entrances, and structures is planned accordingly to optimize these energies. -
Five Elements
The system incorporates the five elements of nature – Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space (or Ether). Balancing and integrating these elements within a building is believed to bring harmony and positive influences to the occupants. -
Site Selection
When constructing a building, selecting an auspicious site is crucial. Factors such as the shape of the land, slope, proximity to water bodies, and natural surroundings are considered to ensure a balanced and positive environment. -
Building Design
The design and layout of a building are meticulously planned to align with the principles of Geo Vastu. For instance, the main entrance is given significant importance, as it is believed to be the gateway for energy to enter the building. -
Energy Flow
Geo Vastu focuses on facilitating the smooth flow of positive energy (prana) throughout the structure while minimizing obstructions or negative energy areas. -
Remedies
In cases where the construction or layout may not fully comply with Vastu principles, specific remedies are suggested, such as using certain materials, symbols, or objects to counteract potential negative effects.
It is essential to note that while Geo Vastu remains influential in Indian culture and has been followed for centuries, modern architecture and urban planning may not strictly adhere to all of its principles. Many architects and homeowners today choose to incorporate Vastu concepts selectively based on personal beliefs or cultural traditions.
Remember that beliefs and practices related to GeoVastu may vary among different practitioners, regions, and cultures, and interpretations of its principles may continue to evolve over time.
